Hannah, Ita and Meme

Ita was Hannah’s favorite doll. It was a hideous blue color doll with one slipper missing and torn skirt that we don’t even remember who gave it to her. We only noticed Ita when Hannah always have Ita’s arm stuck in her mouth whenever she goes to sleep. Bibik Zah said it was a free gift from Neslac when we bought Adam’s formula milk. Hmm, no wonder we don’t remember buying that doll for her.

Hannah always carried Ita everywhere but the funny thing is that it’s always missing. I used to find Ita inside my dressing table and the closet. Mom said she found it in the kitchen cabinet and Bibik Zah would found it in the washing machine, already washed with other clothes. Gen would say he noticed that Ita was lying in the dirty clothes basket but he thought I put it there to wash it.

Later we found out that it was Adam who was responsible. Mom caught him throwing Ita outside the window after victoriously grabbing it away from Hannah’s clutches. He has the knack of hiding it from Hannah. So, sometimes Hannah do gets cranky before she can go to sleep. As for the name Ita, actually Hannah named the doll herself. Every time she sees Ita, she will scream “Itaaaaaaaaaa” which sounded so shrieking-ly funny. So that’s how Ita got her name.
At one time, Ita was missing longer than usual. So Hannah has to suck my sleeves, the pillowcase or a blanket and toss and turn before she can peacefully sleep. We did look for Ita anywhere we can think of and we even ask Adam nicely as to Ita’s whereabout. I even bribed him with Vitagen and jelly-O but to no avail.

We declared Ita MIA after a week. Maybe Adam stuffed Ita inside the dustbin and Bibik Zah has throw out the garbage without checking the contents that we will never see Ita again. Conveniently, we also apply the same theory when Adam loss his milk bottle.
Babah bought Hannah a new teddy bear, which is so huggable and cute. Hannah hugs it and kisses it so fiercely the moment it was introduced to her. She kept mumbling “Memememee”. So we decide to call it Meme. One problem solved.

But seeing Adam’s mischievous smile while waving goodbye this morning, I think he already have plans for Meme.
