The first Hari Raya was really hectic. We spend the night before Raya at Kempadang and I have the opportunity of seeing Gen’s skill in itemizing four chicken meats from its bone for satay. He cracks a few bones here and there and pulls the meat out just like that. Yes, there’s still so much I didn’t know about him. He finally reveals that he once work in a Korean restaurant preparing boneless chicken meal. Oh… ok.
The list was endless. He was a mechanic once, he owned a burger stall once with delivery services, a lorry driver, teaches tuition classes, prepare the drawing for MIL’s house in Kempadang, a waiter in Grand Continental, well I promise talk about all that later.
Early morning Adam looked all grown up with his baju melayu, kain samping and songkok. Please notice his Oboman (Ultraman) shoes that kept blinking everytime he walks. FYI he chooses the shoes himself that when the salesgirl showed the blinking shoes to him, he actually said ‘Wow’ and he had this glimmer in his eyes. At that exact moment, he actually reminds me of Sin Chan. LOL.
Hannah really cute with her baju kurung. I already wear my maternity dresses so it’s very hard for us to match our colours. After hearty breakfast of satay, lemang, rendang daging and ketupat, the whole extended family gathers together and asks for forgiveness from each other. Adam and Hannah collect lots of duit raya by the end of the session. Thank you, thank you.
Then we immediately head to Taman Guru, where I continue eating nasi ayam with Gen looking at me suspiciously as if asking me which part of my stomach is still available. LOL. Ok I admit after all these years, eating at my in laws is still not the same as eating at my mom’s.

We went to the graveyard in Kampung Telok, recite tahlil for our late grandparents (Mom’s parents) and brothers (Mom had suffered thrice miscarriage). Al-Fatihah to To’ki Hussain. His grave is at the far end of the graveyard away from the other entire grave and looks so lonely. Mom said he personally requested to be buried there. I took some pictures but it’s just too creepy to post.
Then we went to the graveyard in Bandar Pekan near the Masjid (Abah’s father). Funnily, we were searching for To’ki Dollah’s grave for almost half an hour before Abah realize that he had changed the batu nesan during Ramadhan. It was raining so Adam and Hannah have to stay in the car. We also visit my Grandmother, Abah’s mother in Kampung Banjir but she was too senile to remember any of us.
It’s the thought that counts, right?
