This is my favourite patriotic song other than the other song, 'Anak Kecil Main Api'. It’s so patriotic and at the same time touches my heart. If anything, this song brings love, struggle, sacrifices, hope and dream of a better future. We’re fifty and yet we still have a far way to go.

Usually me and Acedie, we celebrate it by watching free concert until midnight then we shouted Merdeka a few times followed by the masses singing National anthem. Then they will have the fireworks show. After that we will lepak at the kedai mamak eating roti canai and teh tarik, all Malaysian favourite food.

Ever since I got married, I don’t have any chance to celebrate Merdeka. However, last year was the best Merdeka celebration ever for me. Last year Hannah was born at 12.35 midnight on Merdeka Day. Immediately after the fireworks is over.

So, Happy Birthday Malaysia, Happy Birthday Hannah!
