Open a Door

Life works in a mysterious way. The truth is you never expect what it has in store for you. I bumped into Lim (the one who works in Maybank and got free scolding from me last time in “My Bad”) while paying some bills. We exchange smiles and she asks me how I’m doing. I told her life’s good and I just quit my job. I joked that I might be selling my house and ask her would she be interested.

Lim was obviously shocked (maybe she thinks that I’m really a panas baran woman). She immediately told me that the firm that’s handling my sale and purchase agreement and loan documentations is actually looking for a legal assistant. She said she can talk to the girls there to arrange an appointment for me. I told her it’s ok. Maybe I’ll give them a call later. Actually I was a bit uncomfortable remembering our last encounter and now that she’s being nice to me.
Actually now is not a time for me to be stubborn or arrogant. I called the firm later in the evening and got to speak to Mr. T. He asks me to see him the next day for a formal interview.

The next day, I was there at 11 am. We chat a bit and he said he will call me later. I feel down. Maybe he wants to call my ex-boss and ask him about me. Arghhh! Instead of going home, I went to Kuantan Megamall, just loafing around alone and finally I manage to persuade Gen to leave his work site and accompany me. I think I’m having I’m-so-sad-please-don’t-let-me-be-alone moment. After lunch, we watch Harry Potter at 2 pm show.

At 2.30 pm I got a call from Mr. T’s office. He wanted to see me at 3 pm. I wanted to rearrange but Gen said its ok. Maybe Gen knows that I will be restless waiting for the movie to be over. So we just leave the cinema. With Gen at T’s office makes me less nervous. The office is just too posh to be a legal office. Legal office is supposed to be gloomy with files and papers stacked on every table.

He offered me the job! Even at a better pay slip than my last employment! Even at a better terms and working place and I will be equipped with more staffs. However, I don’t want to be overly excited. I just hope everything went well for me. Amin.

As for Gen, we went to see Harry Potter two days later before my first day at new place.
